PCS Graduation Highlights

A total of 687 students — 677 in the regular program and 10 in the night school — graduated last March 28, 2007 at the school grounds.  The commencement speaker was Atty. Oscar P. Palabyab, undersecretary of the Department of Tourism for Tourism Services and Regional Offices and a member of PCS Class 1964.  In his speech, Sec. Palabyab said that “Because of all these negative news the Filipinos are not proud to be Filipinos anymore or find it difficult to develop that sense of pride. We lost a sense of national pride.”  He said that there is a need to reverse this tide.  “To regain a sense of national pride and ownership, a new perspective has to be developed in viewing the Philippines.  Focus on the positive, daily shift the paradigm from a sinking ship, to one controlled by the people.  There are many avenues available to them to emulate these successes and contribute to the improvement of the country.  A movement needs to be created to promote the country, not just to foreigners but more importantly, to its own people.”  He further advised the graduates that “when you talk to others, especially foreigners, speak positively of our race and our country”  and “Have a better appreciation of our history, culture and tradition.”

Using the school motto — Noblesse Oblige — as the background, he challenged the graduates to help build a strong nation and proudly say “I am a Filipino”.

Last March 23, 617 grade six students received their diplomas from the School Director.  Atty. Analiza Rebuelta of Class 1982 was the guest speaker.   (31 March 2007)
