PCS Launches Piso Para Sa Iskolar

During last year's celebration of Msgr. Cirilos' sacerdotal anniversary, the Piso Para Sa Iskolar was lainched. The PPSI is an "in-reach program" aimed at reducing the effects of declining enrolment as a result of the fianncial problems that beset the families of PCS students. From reports released by the school, "some 120 pupils are leaving the school annually for the last 3 years". As of June 19, 2009, 351 cards are unclaimed and enrolment decreased by 581 in SY2009-2010 compared to last school year. Majority of those leaving PCS are from the grade school since "parents prefer to retain their children in the high school for better prospoects in looking for colleges and universities after graduation" from high school".

Donations to this program may be sent to the School through the Accounting Department. For details, click on the links -- page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4, and page 5.

(RCAMES).

In a three-hour program that presented research studies by the teachers of the high school, grade school, early childhood education departments and a fourth year student, the guests from RCAMES were exposed to the pursuit of developing a culture of action research in the PCS academe.

The following titles of the research studies together with the presenters' name highlighted the event: An Analysis of the English Periodic Tests of PCS High School Department SY '08- '09 by Miss Ian Heidi R. Abrigo as author and the presenter; The Efficacy of the Investigatory Projects as Perceived by Selected High School Students of PCS for The SY '06- '07 by Mrs. Sonia Timog as presenter; A Survey of the Strategies in Learning English as A Second Language of Third Year Students in PCS by Mr. Aries Oliveros as author and presenter;  An Action Research on The Effectiveness of the English Area Activities SY'07-'08 by Mrs. Daria Himongala, Grade School Language Coordinator as presenter; Parents' Expectations on Early Childhood Education Program at PCS by Mrs. Rowena Malibago, ECE Coordinator as presenter; Perception of Regular Teachers on Their Involvement in The Mainstreaming Plan by Miss Roselle Castillo as author and presenter and An Assessment on The New Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE IV) by Ma. Monica Shiena Sagad of PCS Class 2008 as presented by Jennifer Pulido, a fourth year student.

The RDAC is expected to hold another forum next year as this year's event commenced a series of fora for action research presentation. (Posted 27 June 2009)
